Pain in my heel?

when i wake up i feel a pain really strong on my heel.
what should i do?
im a little overweight, is that what causes it? ive heard by drinking calcium would heal the pain..
thank you very much..martha
Answer:
possibly you have a spur on your heel. YOu can by cushioning for inside your shoes which will help with the pain
It could be wear some good support shoes.
If you mean when you first walk after waking, I also had this condition and it was diagnosed as plantar facitis (sp). It is a tendon that strecthes from the palm of your foot to the heal it is inflamed and drawn tight. There are some exercises you can do to help strecth it back out. There is always surgery as a last resort. My aunt had that done and said it really didn't help because the pain returned
This sounds like plantar fasciitis, which is when the fascia (connective tissue running along the bottom of your foot) becomes irritated and inflamed, causing pain. Some causes are obesity, high arches, being flat footed, and walking and or running constantly on hard surfaces.
This condition is worst when you have been at rest or not putting weight on the foot for a while, and you try to bear weight. This can be very painful. You can try ice, get a water bottle, freeze it, and roll it back and forth under your foot. You can also do the same with a tennis ball, and roll it under your foot. I have had a podiatrist reccomend both of these. There are some stretches you can do to help with the inflammation and pain. I took alleve, and later prescription antiinflammatory medications for it when I had this problem.
If you continue to have pain, it increases, it persists, or it bothers you while at rest, you need to see a doctor. Unfortunately, this condition can be very painful and if untreated it can lead to other problems since you change the way you walk to "favor" the foot. Over the long term, back, knee, and other problems can result.
Hang in there, hopefully you can stop the activity that is causing the pain, and that will be all that you need, along with some rest.
Well quote "I'm Little overweight" well that may be it because 200+ is alto of pressure on you feet and can cause problems about the calcium i mean i don't think it would hurt you so give it a try. Just try eating healthyer and exercising hopefully it will go away if you don't then you may have something more serious so contact a doctor if that doesn't help. .hope that helps bye
