Oh my gosh, i'm gonna ralph?

and i'm at work =( ... I knew I should not have gone out last night... any hangover cures??
Answer:
coffee and tylenol.
Sprite, it always helps me. Good luck, I know the feeling.
Part of the reason you get a hang over is from dehydration, so you need to start by rehydrating yourself, water is good, or something like gatorade or propel will help also.
jug down some pepto
i know i'm kinda young to answer but my health teacher told me that the only way to get rid of a hangover is time. srry nothing else will help you no matter what other ppl say!
Black Coffee
a good fry up all that grease in your stomach
Try a V8 with a few teaspoons of tobasco Sauce.
(It works for sea-sickness too.)
...lol boy do i remember those days.lol what i did once was go to the bathroom and stick a pencil down my throat and made myself puke, boy did i feel better afterwards, then eat some crackers, hope that helped :)
im a big drinker. i drink a couple glaases of water in like 5 mintues and take a excederin or two aleve and i feel fine in about 20 minutes. but that also depends on what u were drinkin the night b4.anyways just drink alot of fluids and a couple pain relievers.be safe
Hydration...drink lots of water, and next time drink a lot of water when you get home. It helps.
Don't drink cold water, it will only make you buzz again..Been there done that..Coffee %26 Advils will help !
This may sound really strange. However, when i feel the way you do, I drink a warm coke. Just sip it, don't slam the can. The acid in the coke seems to settle my stomach. I also take a couple of Advil. I know the last thing you would want to drink is a warm coke, but give it a try. Hope this works for you as well as it works for me.

Oh my gosh, bruises?

I just recently went to a overnight college volleyball camp, and spent my birthday there.Well, for birthdays they always give the special birthday girl a free pizza and drinks and a special "treat".
All the girls in the camp lined up, about EIGHTY, and spread their legs and I had to crawl through them with my knee pads on as quickly as I could while they slapped me in the a** REALLY hard. It was funny at the time, but still horribly painful.
Some even trapped me and started practically beating me.Okay, so, all was fine and dandy, everyone laughed about it, even though I was silently screaming in pain, but I was amused, so I just thought "whatever".
Today, I got back home, looked in the mirror, and recoiled in horror.
I have major bruises, little and big, purple, brown, blue, green, ugh, you name it. Plus nasty scratches and welts.
It looks like I was abused D:
And my butt hurts like a mother!Any suggestions on how to get rid of the pain?I can barely sit.
Answer:
Yay for hazing...well, the best you can do is take some pain reliever and perhaps put some cream on to dull the pain. Burt's Bee's has a comfrey salve that does great for healing bruises and cuts. You may consider buying the larger tub because of the extent of your injuries. The cause of your bruising is broken blood vessels beneath the skin bleed out into the layers of skin. That's why they can be tender. You'll just have to wait out until your body can break down all the blood and absorb it back into your system.
You WERE abused. For the pain do not take any ASA products, they act as blood thinners and will only prolong the bruising, for pain take an acetominophen product. Putting some ice packs on will help with the bruising and swelling.
If I was your Mom (and I am one) I would want to know. Hazing is illegal where I live.

Oh my god, you aren't answering my question! In the state she's in at 16 she's an EMT?

For God's Sake, my cousin is crying because she just worked a frickin' fire call, saw God awful things, smelled God awful things, so instead of telling me that she's too young to be an EMT can someone please be HELPFUL and tell me a help line she can call? Yes she's an EMT! She's a great kid.
Answer:
800-969-NMHA (6642)
National Mental Health Association
the fire dept she works for is supposed to have therapists available to her. have her call her capt and ask.
Honestly, I think this might be good for her. I was a nurse's aide at 16, I went home and cried for hours the first time I had a patient die and I had to do post-mortum care. But I'm glad now that I did it. I grew from the experiance and anything I do from on doesn't seem as bad as working that job.
you need to get her a good Counseler it will help her alot
The fire department should offer theripy (mine does) and she cant be a full EMT until shes 18 so she must be a vol.
Instead of being online yelling at the screen that people aren't answering like you think they should (and I'm not trying to be hard on you), I think you need to get her to the hospital for psychiatric counseling and hold her tight in the meantime. I have been through too many traumatic things in life and now I suffer from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). It causes me to go into spells of amnesia sometimes just so that my mind can hide from whatever is the current threat. Please take her to a psychiatric hospital or to a general ER room, but hold on to her in the meantime as tight as possible. When something like this happens there is so much fear and horror that can cause a person to collapse mentally.
get some doctor's HELP
I'm sure she can find a good help line to call someone. Aand the first thing the person she calls will say is "you're too young to be an EMT."
She NEEDS to talk to her chief about this! Many services have run reviews. Ask her about a critical incident stress debriefing at her station. Her superiors should supply her with adequate mental counseling. If not, there are legal alternatives to forcing them to do so.

Odd Question?

I heard that if you bathe in alcohol you become drunk because you absorb it in your pores. How come you don't drown when you use water? Water gets into your pours, you intake too much, you drown.
Answer:
holy cow!! i ahve seen some strange questions, but this one!! takes the cake! ha!! ha! bathe in alcohol? try a tubful of jack daniels then!!
Where you heard that is wrong and I'm not sure where your getting your information at.
Water gets into your pores but not into your lungs. It has to get into your lungs in order for you to drown.I have never heard that about bathing in alcohol but wouldn't it be cheaper to just drink it?
Wow...you were mis-informed. You can not get drunk by bathing in alcohol.
Water does get into your pores...but not into your lungs...that is why you do not drown.
That's not true.
Different parts of your body have different absorption rates. You would have to be in the water continuously a very long and unheard of time to drown that way.
Wow, that'd have to be a huge quantity of alcohol. I've never heard of someone getting drunk from bathing in alcohol. Truly I've never heard of anyone bathing in alcohol. I don't know where you got your information, but I think they were mistaken.
well water and alcohol are completely different liquids. your body already has water in it, and and you need water in your system to survive so even if your pores do soak up a lot of water it is just used in you body so you cant exactly drown...and maybe it is true that you can get drunk by taking a bath in alcohol, but i highly doubt it because your pores are usually almost closed, that why you use warm water to open your pores because it expands, so you would have to use alcohol over a certain degree for it to really get into your body and you would also have to intake a very large amount of alcohol to get drunk. it would also take a lot longer since your pores obviously wouldn't soak up stuff as fast as just drinking from your mouth.
um yea see i don't think that you'll get drunk

Nursing shoes?

what are the best shoes out there...shoes marketed for nursing? regular sneakers?
Answer:
I currently work in the ER and the majority of us wear sneakers, mainly Nike Shox and New Balance. I've tried the nursing shoes and for me they were the most uncomfortable things and required a break in period. I'm on my feet for 12 hours very often without a break and the last thing I need is uncomfortable shoes. Stay away from shoes with platform soles, they look nice, but aren't very practical. Clogs in general are a problem if you need to get somewhere in a hurry like a code. Check out what other nurses are wearing, ask about their preferences and go from there.
go to allheart.com they have great deals for the lowest prices you'll find. I order from there all the time, there are a variety of brands you can choose from.
No sneakers!...LUV A NURSE...(it's a brand) used to be THE BEST...they have a little "heart" on the shoe (usually on the sole)...
Go to a uniform supply store (most cities have a medical uniform supplier)...they can steer you (and most often have) the better brands of nursing shoes...
Nurses are on their feet A LOT.paying more for better shoes just makes good sense...
I am a nurse and wear Crocs. They are awesome. 12 hour days, no problem with Crocs. Do not buy the generic ones though, they aren't as comfy. good luck!

Nurses, what would you do...?

I am a new nurse (LPN), and I was offered a per diem job (even though I applied for full-time) at the local hospital, known for its bad reputation. After months of confusion and run-arounds, I finally signed an offer letter. The next week, however, I was called in and told that I actually could not have the job, because LPNs can't work per diem without a year of experience. That was it, they sent me away with nothing!Needless to say, I am irate with them. But I live in a small town and sadly, there aren't a lot of other options. I am looking at a rehab/long-term care facility, but will I get the kind of experience there that the medical/surgical floor at the hospital would have given me? What to do?
Answer:
I was an LPN for 10 years before going to RN school. I found that the experience that I received was both beneficial and damaging. #1: Remember that Nursing school is just simply prepping you for Boards; NOT real nursing. #2: Long term care and acute care are two different areas of care. You will get experience in the long term care center that you can use on the acute floor. You will get better experience on an acute floor however it is much more stressful!! Long term care is stressful too with having more patients per assignment. Long term care doesn't change though...Acute care is ALWAYS changing. I would take the long term care job and get what I could get. Beggars can't be choosey, if you know what I mean.
You may need to look for work outside of the city or area in which you live. Millions of people do just that, and commute to work everyday. It is always far more challenging to find opportunities for decent work with decent pay in smaller towns %26 like areas.
You are either going to have to take the year of experience in the Nursing Home/Rehab facility in order to get a job at the hospital, or you will have to go outside of your small town to get you year of experience. If there is no other work in the town you live in, then it means you take what there is and suck it up for the year. It won't be the same as the experience you would get at the hospital, but you will certainly get experience. In the Nursing Home/ Rehab, you will be doing things that RN's don't even do in a hospital and you will get lots of experience. You have to decide what is right for you. Leave and work away for a year or longer, or stay?
I firmly believe that all nurses, regardless of specialty, can benefit from at least one year of hospital experience (preferably med-surg.) There is nothing wrong with LTC, but acute care is the way to go if you want to see and learn.
Obviously that hospital sucks. I'm sorry they did that to you, but I have to say at least you know now. Look outside of your community; the commute would be worth it, at least to get some experience. Good Luck!!
