Oxycontin to another state?

I don't understand this completely so I would appreciate any insight. My mother lives in Charlotte, NC and has a place at the coast for a vacation home. Evidently Oxycontin has specific rules due to it being so popular for abuse. It seems the prescription can only be filled at a certain pharmacy (not at a different store in the same chain like most prescriptions) and it cannot be shipped or mailed either. My mother cannot drive so it is not an option for her to run up the road 4.5 hours each way to pick it up and I am not looking forward to the same drive to take it to her. Any suggestions about how to handle this? I have to deal with this about three times a year.
Answer:
Oxycontin or "hillbilly heroin" as it is known here must be filled with a new prescription each and every time. She cannot get a re-fill on the medication anywhere in the USA. How long is she at her vacation home? She will run out of the med in about 30 days max. There is no way around the law. She must establish herself as a patient at the closest doctor's office if she wants to stay for an extended period of time. No new doctor will give a prescription for it so she will need her regular doctor to contact her vacation doctor to speed the process up. As this med has a high street value, she would be VERY wise to keep her use a secret.
I would think a local pharmacy would fill it for her if she has a written prescription from her doctor. She might also want to get a letter from the doctor explaining that she is under his/her care and needs to fill prescriptions away from home while traveling. (worth a try).
Talk to the pharmacy. you may need to seek out a new pharmacist. My boyfriend uses walgreens and they allow him to get refills at any walgreens pharmacy when travelling or on vacation. CVS does not allow this.
