Pain in back around bottom of rib cage?

Overnight I was unable to sleep due to persistent pain in my back around the bottom of my rib cage. It lasted about 6 hours. Also I felt nauseus. The pain is now gone. What could cause this?
Answer:
It could be your kidneys..if the pain was exrusiating, it could be kidney or gull stones. It doesn't hurt to go see the doctor. Better to be safe than sorry.
Sounds like a kidney chill.you need to keep warm .
kidney infection
THis is known as flank pain...It could be from many things. YOu need to see your MD soon. It could be anything from a kidney infection to something more serious... I am a RN so do what I say...LOL good luck.
First of all, if the pain is gone that is good - as long as it doesn't come back. If it does get it checked out.Kidney infections will last more than 6 hours, anything more serious will also last days, weeks or longer. So the most likely scenario is either you tightened your diaphragm or the ribs/spine in the area. Boo%26#92;th of these will cause nausea as they can create pressure on the stomach. You can tighten these by being under stress, lifting heavy objects or just over time.It may pay to do some exercises to release the pressure on these and you can therefore check to see if the area is tight accordingly. A good site for stretches and techniques for this area is at http://www.back-pain-advisor.com... and visit their page on back stretches which has a good stretch for this area.Their free e-course is excellent as well and you learn heaps more - http://www.back-pain-advisor.com/back-so...
