I was in a car accident about 4 years ago. I had plastic surgery on my knee. They had to cut out calf muscle and put it over the knee. and i had a skin graft over it thats about 12 inches long and and covers all but the three inches in the back of my knee. I'm so glad i still have my leg, but the scar is horrific. People are constantly staring and asking questions. Is there any way i could have surgery again to improve the look of this scar?? or is there no hope?
Answer:
Maybe you should try to consider the scar as a badge of honor. I understand that you're grateful to still have your leg, but SHOW that you're grateful. And when people ask, calmly, in a matter-of-fact kind of voice, give them a sentence long answer. And when you catch people staring, give them one of those "What?!" looks. I have a big scar near my elbow from a surgery, and I usually quickly respond. People are just curious and some people don't know how to handle their curiousity. I think of my scar as a physical memory I'll always have. But if you really want to try a surgery, why don't you see your doctor? He or she would know better than most of the answerers on here. Good luck!
Ask a Reconstructive or Plastic surgeon about "scar-revision surgery" With today's technology, nothing is impossible.
