I am wanting to not take my Roxicodone 15s as much. I have been on 3 a day for a year and I want to have more control so that they will be more effective when I do take them. I want to do this on my own without the help of my doctor. Every time I try I get very lethargic and can't do much. I do have a lot of valiums so if I could devote 3 days to it I could just stay chilled out but I have a very active lifestyle that includes a job a band and a schedule. I still have some 15s I am not saying this because I am out, I have never abused them or any other medications. However I do have a tolerance and I am tired of feeling bad when I don't take them. I am allowing my self 10 more for the weaning process. It was very hard just to make it from 8am to 10am without taking one like I always do. I quit smoking 8 months ago. I don't want to take methadone.

Try the Thomas Recipe. You can find it in some of my old answers or Google it. I used to give it out a lot but I got some static over it from another poster and stopped. But... if you're in pain and you feel you're building a tolerance, you can ask your doctor to rotate you to another medication. This is very common in pain management. You don't have to suffer needlessly or try and stop takng them... there are other ways. If you're dead set on weaning down, the Thmoas Recipe is the best at-home detox available... usually you'd have to go to the doctor because it involves Valium or another Benzo, but since you have it, you can do it all on your own without your doctor (though I would really advise talking to your doctor about the whole thing: wanting to get off the pills, why, etc. because there really are things you can do other than weaning off of them and being in pain). Like I said, it's in several of my old answers (all are best answers, too) and I have two different versions of it in one of the answers. Good luck
First of all, if you have been taking oxycodone for a year - only as prescribed - your detox shouldn't be too serious. Withdrawal does cause some lack of energy and light depression, but you aren't going to go through the shakes...try not to use the benzodiazapines, as youre just putting more garbage in your system. Has your condition improved enough to stop the meds? Why not try taking two a day for a week, one a day, then one every other day and see if the slow transition will help. Good luck, dude. As a PhD in Psychology and a substance abuse counselor, I think your body has built a tolerance to the narcotic and isn't working for you anyway.go slow and you can do it! Good luck!!
I know where you're coming from. Recently went through the exact same thing myself. I'd got to the stage where with prolonged regular usage, the effectiveness was so drastically reduced that it almost wasn't worth taking them. When I cut back though, and only take them topically as I need them rather than every day, they work quite well.Anyhow, I'm not really sure what your question here is though? You didn't seem to include one in your post. Are you looking for feedback on your plan to cut back, or other suggestions on doing so, or what exactly?Good luck with it, anyway. Oxycodone can be hard to kick, but you'll really enjoy the renewed effectiveness you'll feel when you're controlling your dosage more strictly.
