Answer:
You should not change the jewelry until the piercing is fully healed, and I'm going to take it a step farther and tell you why.
When a piercing helas it forms a fistula, this is in essence a tube of healed skin around the jewelry (just look at anyone with streched ears when their jewelry is out and you'll see what I mean), while the piercing is forming the fistula, it is very delicate and every time you change the jewelry before it is fully healed you damage the fistula thus extending the healing time. In addition to this professional piercers use pre-sterilized jewelry that has been autoclaved, replacement jewelry has not been sterilized in any way no matter how new it is (unless you had your piercer or doctor sterilize it). Just imagine your shiny new piece of jewelry being made by a sweaty worker in a factory who forgot to wash his hands after he peed, and if it has not been sterilized by means of autoclave or by a medical grade chemical sterilizer (not alcohol) then why would you insert it into an unhealed piercing as any bacteria or germs will be trasferred directly into your blood stream.
When the piercing is healed you should still clean "new" jewelry with a liquid antibacterial soap and water before inserting it as you never know who touched it while packaging it or making it.
If I scared you, I'm sorry but I thought you should know why you shouldn't change the jewelry yet. It's a health risk, and will make your piercing take longer to heal.
I would stick with what your piercing artist told you to do. Although my sister got her belly button pierced a few years ago and changed the ring just a few days later and everything is fine. For me personally, I wouldn't. Good Luck!
buy a new one, make sure its very sanitized and switch em fast
I would stick to what the artist told you. It might get infected. Although if you want to change it that bad, you could go back to where you got it pierced and ask the artist who pierced you if there is any way to change it sooner. He might have another ring or a stud to put in its place after 2 weeks or so. You never know.
But I wouldn't change it without asking him first. He knows what he is doing.
I know a guy who got his ears pierced and changed them too early and they got infected. So trust the artist.Good Luck!
when i got my ears pierced they said to wait but i didn't and i put different ones in they do any thing so gl
