ok, i've always wondered this...is it harmful to keep from useing the bathroom? i had to do this in school, a lot, because you know how teachers can be. some dont like to be "interruppted" (which annoys me so) so we know not to even ASK in that class. some teachers have even gone to the point of just saying NO all the time
Answer:
No...don't keep it in. It is important to go to the restroom when you need to. If the teacher's are causing problems, you need to let your parent or guardian know that this is an issue and have them talk with the principal or VP about this.
My mom says it is.
considering wastes are considered harmful to your body, and urine happens to contain a lot of ammonia.. i'd say as long as you go at least once or twice a day...
holding it for to long can cause bladder infections
I've heard its really hard on your kidneys and bladder
Yes it is...empty often.
Yes it can cause UTIs (Urinary tract Infections)
Well it's not as simple to answer this question because there are a lot of things that play into it. Under ordinary circumstances, no, holding back from going to the bathroom for a short time is not harmful to your health. The system is designed to signal you need to go long before the matter becomes critical. So getting the call is just your bladder's way of telling you you need to be on the lookout for a spot to relieve yourself. It's not an emergency situation. Before you get to that point, you will get another call, a little more urgently. I'm sure you get my point here, as most people have experienced it. Now for folks with a tendency to get bladder or kidney infections, it is a different matter. Repeatedly holding urine can set them up for infections. But usually these people aren't drinking enough fluid to begin with, so you are dealing with highly concentrated urine that is full of bacteria, sort of a bacterial pool in the bladder. Ordinarily in school, you can make it through a class period without doing any harm, providing you are otherwise healthy. Under normal circumstances, you could go to the bathroom before morning classes start, and be reasonably expected to be able to make it 3-4 hours before you had to go again- which should get you through to lunchtime. Most teachers don't like to have the disruptions of students constantly coming and going during classtime, and it is the time honored way of students getting out of class as well. Although the teachers don't care for the interruptions, it's not just the teacher who is being interrupted, but the other students as well. So yes, they don't take well to it. They didn't take well to it when I was in school, nor when my mother was in school either. It's not a new problem, from either side- student or teacher. I would suggest that if you think you may need to use the restroom, you come in at the beginning of class and tell the teacher you need to go and ask to be allowed to come in a little late. Then you can slip in quietly, with less disruption to either teacher or classmates. That tact usually works much better than raising your hand half way through the lecture, and then publicly asking to go- which disrupts the instruction, then the rest of the class as you gather up your things and leave the classroom.
yes it is... I don't know why but i know it is... You can hurt your bladder, and... it's painful to hold it in! And you can have accidents or cause a UTI... or you could develop a shy bladder. or i've even heard of bladder poisoning.when u have kids, tell them that if they don't have to go too bad wait until the teacher has changed topics or the whole class goes to the bathroom. AND tell them that if it's an emergency and it hurts to hold it in and they might have an accident, tell them to tell the teacher it's an emergency and if meanie teach doesn't let them go, they should just go by themselves. The teacher will be a lot more disappointed if they have to deal with an accident. O.o
