OK. so after driving 6 hours straight, I began to experience a pain in my neck as if I slept on it wrong?

So thinking I just overexceded my neck muscles, I took some pain relief and an icy hot pack, tigerbalm and ice and a heat pack the pain is still there but now a little futher down, to the base of my neck. Its not unbearable pain but very annoying and uncorfortable, occasionally it will send a shooting pain but that has only been a rare and I mean rare occasion. Other than going to a chiro, does anyone have a suggestion releave the painand pressure. What could it possibly be? sTRESS?
Answer:
I had something similer happen to me after a long trip. I found out that I was clinching my jaw and that is what caused my pain. Sometimes when we are tired and under stress we tense our muscles. I suggest some muscle relaxers and anti-inflamatories. It should clear up in a day or two.
it's that long drive with no rest stops on the way
soak in the tub with epson salt in the water. If extra strength pain relief medicine doesn't help, then you need to go to the doctor and get some muscle relaxers..
take some advil and ice it if necessary.. it is just the muscles cramping in the back of you neck from the long drive. try to relax and maybe find someone to give you a nice massage... it should go away after a couple of days..
Your neck was probably just stuck in the same position too long, and you pinched a nerve or something. You can get a neck pillow with a pocket to insert a hot/cold pack to use whenever driving for long periods of time. Also try lying flat on the floor with a rolled-up towel under your neck to keep its posture. The rule of thumb is: if it feels good, then it IS good. When all else fails, and if the pain lasts for more than a week, go see a chiropractor.
You just stressed your neck muscles. This happens to many drivers. Beginning truck drivers experience this all of the time. It has some acid build up in your muscles. This takes some time to work it out. What will help take the pain away is "alieve" you can buy it over the counter. It is the medicine that is normally given to older people for arthritis. It will help with the pain almost right away. Take it like the directions say. I had the same thing once I started driving longer distances. I had to take this for the first month. It will work wonders. The walmart version works well too.Good luck!
Who did you have to drive 6 hours for? Must not be for fun because you're in HERE and not OUT THERE having fun with friends!
Muscle tension, possibly muscle spasms. Valerian works well to relax muscle spasms. You can purchase a foam cervical collar to wear at home, it will relieve the muscle tension, and give support, they cost about 20bucks. The long drive is very likely the problem, rest up.
