i burnt my arm abt.. 30 mins. ago in an area of about 3.5 sq. inches on my arm and i applied ice. and its red now and i don't wanna get a scar there cause i usually do get scars from burns. what should i do?
Answer:
cold water is the best thing when you burn yourself - 20 minutes under the tap is ideal. never ice or vinegar or milk or butter or mustard or toothpaste. these are bad and hurt far more than any imagined help.13 hours later now so i would advise that you cover the burnt area with sterile paraffin wax or aqueous cream bp or solugel. (thats in order of recommendation).cover the burnt area in paraffin wax after cleaning and removing any burst blisters - these are just sites of infection and will take longer to heal. wash and reapply every 4-6 hours - cover with cling wrap if you wish to cover with clothes - this will stop your clothes getting covered with paraffin and maintains the burn.paraffin creates a seal stopping water leaving the body and reduces pain as it protects sensitised nerves. the paraffin imitates the natural oils secreted by the skin. skin cells are better able to multiply and regenerate with this treatment. pain is also helped. make sure you buy plenty of this paraffin - as the burn heals switch to aqueous cream bp. these products are great and help reduce scarring.http://www.doorone.com.au/xgs-aqueous_cr...http://www.pharmacyonline.com.au/david-c...http://www.pharmacyonline.com.au/solugel...hope this helps - let me know how you go and what similar brands/alternatives are available in your area email if you still have questions - send photos

Aloe vera works great for burns. Helps with the pain and with healing. Go get some!
Run it under cool water
rub it on a cheese grater
Keep ice on it as long as you can. That helps to keep the swelling down and cuts down on the scar area. Then get yourself some Vitamin E oil or cream and apply is to the whole surface. Vitamin E is a wonderful healer and will help diminish any scar which might otherwise appear.
P.S. the first persons suggestionf or aloe vera is also an excellent idea.
First-degree burns are red and painful. They swell a little. They turn white when you press on the skin. The skin over the burn may peel off after 1 or 2 days.Thicker burns, called second-degree burns, have blisters and are painful. The skin is very red or splotchy, and it may swell a lot.Third-degree burns cause damage to all layers of the skin. The burned skin looks white or charred. These burns may cause little or no pain because the nerves in the skin are damaged. How long does it take for burns to heal?First-degree burns usually heal in 3 to 6 days.
Second-degree burns usually heal in 2 to 3 weeks.
Third-degree burns usually take a very long time to heal.Do not put butter, oil, ice or ice water on burns. This can cause more damage to the skin.First-degree burnSoak the burn in cool water. Then treat it with a skin care product like aloe vera cream or an antibiotic ointment. To protect the burned area, you can put a dry gauze bandage over the burn. Take an over-the-counter pain reliever, such as acetaminophen (one brand name: Tylenol), ibuprofen (some brand names: Advil, Motrin) or naproxen (brand name: Aleve), to help with the pain.Second-degree burnSoak the burn in cool water for 15 minutes. If the burned area is small, put cool, clean, wet cloths on the burn for a few minutes every day. Then put on an antibiotic cream, or other creams or ointments prescribed by your doctor. Cover the burn with a dry nonstick dressing (for example, Telfa) held in place with gauze or tape. Check with your doctor's office to make sure you are up-to-date on tetanus shots.Change the dressing every day. First, wash your hands with soap and water. Then gently wash the burn and put antibiotic ointment on it. If the burn area is small, a dressing may not be needed during the day. Check the burn every day for signs of infection, such as increased pain, redness, swelling or pus. If you see any of these signs, see your doctor right away. To prevent infection, avoid breaking any blisters that form.Burned skin itches as it heals. Keep your fingernails cut short and don't scratch the burned skin. The burned area will be sensitive to sunlight for up to one year.Third-degree burnFor third-degree burns, go to the hospital right away. Don't take off any clothing that is stuck to the burn. Don't soak the burn in water or apply any ointment. You can cover the burn with a sterile bandage or clean cloth until you receive medical assistance.
If you don't already have one, go to the store and get an Aloe Vera plant. Then take a leaf of it and cut it open and lay it on the burn. Tape in onto your arm either with some medical tape or with a large bandaid. Leave it on there all night and then apply a new leaf tomorrow. Do this until it seems to be healing nicely. If you just get Aloe gel in a bottle, it does NOT work very well at all. It has been too processed and lost many of its good qualities. You really need to use fresh leaves.I have healed many cuts and burns with this. It is really wonderful and completely natural.
i usually apply toothpaste to the burn and it will not blister or scar.
instead of putting ice on it u should have placed your arm in cold water...as for the scarring...i would put a bacterial polysporn on it.at night put nothing on it let it air out and keep it bandaged...then put polysporn on again...
you should apply a slushy of ice and water (put some in a plastic bag and tie a knot in it) never apply ice directly to a burn. DO this until the heat is gone from the burn then when you are finished and the pain is gone get some pawpaw ointment and apply that to the burn. This will reduce the scaring in a big way. YOu can keep applying this ointment until the scar is totally gone :) It works a treat - I had a fry basket burn to my arm and I did that and now I have no scar at all. If it is painful take some simple analgesia such as paracetemol %26/or ibuprofen as directed
USE A%26D it is a maricle cream. Don't use the zinc oxide stuff though, just the original ointment. any time I burn or cut myself I always use that and I am always fine after that.
put some mustard on it.the heat from mustard sucks out heat from burn
okay first of all ice makes the burn worse because it kills healthy skin cells in the burn area so keep ice away. you can run cool water over the burn but not for too long. apply burn cream or aloe vera gel on it, this will help with the redness and pain. if you dont want it to scar apply neosporin, this will help to reduce the scarring, chances are you will still have a scar but a lot smaller than if you did nothing.
butter with salt on it
furstly dont put it under cold water or ice da coldness bloks blood from flowing then when it flows back itll sting again put vaseline it helps it feels stingy rite then but wait 10 mins itll hurt no more an a scar wont appear
you might get a scar considering the severity of the burn try aloe vara
